Does there exist, in any form, an avid roleplaying community here? Or is there even a loose coalition of roleplayers in a form? If not, how many community members are interested in roleplaying frequently? How many have even a casual interest here? If there is not a current, active community of roleplayers, I want to gauge the interest of players to form one. Essentially, I feel that there is something to be made here. Sandbox games are the absolute best forums for roleplayers. How many players on WoW RP servers have to pretend that some random house is “theirs”, or have to create false scenes within a game because they lack the tools sandbox games provide? Here, the developers have given all who are willing the tools of roleplay. We don’t need a complete, functional game to enjoy the elements that already exist here– greater and more active RP communities have and often are created from significantly less than we already have here in Beta. I want replies, I want discussion. That’s all I ask. |

I have never really engaged in RP gaming within a MMORPG scenario, although have participated in many p&p RPG’s in my youth. My first steps into a fantasy world were back in the days of dungeons and dragons when computers struggled with simple adventure games like “Twin Kingdom Valley”, and evolved through face to face roll play games. My only attempts to play in online game were very disheartening as the gap in “commitment” was always obvious. Some players wanted to live out a virtual life 6-10hrs a day in game and others simply wanted to “dabble” with the concept causing rifts amongst the players that wanted to take part. To be honest I am not sure where I would fit in the “commitment scale” as I have a family and a job. I am probably far too casual for most people, and would not want to be removing aspects from their gaming by not being able to participate or occasionally having to leave at inconvenient times. I am very supportive of the concept however, as an active RP community can drive an in game storyline, politics can become involved, wars, trade and even player created questing all of which I feel add to a sandbox game a great deal. I would love to see groups of players using the game world a their “theatre” even though I am sure some players may laugh and point, its where the whole genre has its routes and we should all be thankful for that. I wish you good luck, and if there is anything I can help just drop me a PM. Cant promise I can help but I will do what I can. |

In my old faction we put on RP events all the time, as far as RPing all the time, not so much. We are working on giving the game more player made culture, so this would be a welcome thing. |

In my decade+ of playing MMOs, more often than not it is a roleplaying environment that keeps me in a game long after I would have normally been bored of it. As a player, I can hardly care about getting that next thousand wood to complete building X, but as a roleplayer, I push through for my character’s sake. If the world feel like it is lived in, rather than merely played in, it appears to take on a new quality of virtual life. Feuds seem more personal, rivalries develop for entirely new reasons, as do friendships. I can honestly say the friends I have made roleplaying in MMOs have been the best I have made in a game by far. It is my sincere hope that Dawntide might foster such an environment one day, and if there is anything I can do to help to foster such a community, I will. |

I have not played DT for very long, but I plan to be an active RP player in game. I plan to RP in faction events, as well as not in faction and just for the fun of it. Role Playing is something I enjoy in any game, especialy MMORPGs. (: |

If there is RP I would most likely participate. It won’t be my main focus in game however. :) |
