In coming patches some changes will occur that should affect players game performance, by transferring some processing load for the CPU over to the GPU. Could players please take a record of your average FPS before and after the patch and post some numbers here so the Dev team can get a fair reflection of the impact. I would suggest one measurement in a busy cell such as the start town and one cell with no buildings such as a “complete” ocean cell. I shall give an example of a standard format for players to follow : Pre-patch: Start cell FPS 30 Post-patch: Start cell FPS ?40? |

FYI it would be best to wait until after patch to post as you can only edit posts for a short period of time |

Information for the curious…. Been chatting with Wiz regarding the patch, and there will be a delay due to some small bugs with the new renderer, it will likely be patched in a couple of weeks but early signs show considerable improvements to FPS. The Dev’s might distribute it as an optional testing exe in Monday’s patch, so we can collect FPS info. Sorry to bring news of a delay, but better to keep everyone up to date with the latest information. |

Tinkertot, from my discussions with wiz and the coders the current priority is performance and stability, the new renderer should give a much better indication of final performance expectations. From what I have heard from CIP and Wiz its going to give significant FPS improvement over the current build. As you are probably aware I dont get to find out all the details, so I cannot really comment on what else to expect. Most likely there will be very few new additions to the game mechanics until after the next patch. Adding new content at the same time as putting in a new renderer “could” cause more problems I would imagine. I will obviously keep everyone informed of anything that is newsworthy. |

I’m glad they’ve tried to push more of the load onto the CPU. What do we have for multi-threading support? Quad CPUs are generally vastly cheaper than good GPUs (~$110 for a Phenom 2 X4, ~$250 for an i5 2500k), so these changes could mean far more accessibility for the potential and existing players. |

Even if it only allows a few new potential players its got to be a good thing for the community as a whole. And nice to see you are still around TheInternetMan :D |

My frame rate is the usual 5 in town 15 out in the field, no noticable change (I have a rather low spec computer). But I did get a weird graphic glitch, every npc and building, as well as the boulders outside town appear pitch black with no texture. I know that should probably go in a bug forum but since it has to do with the new renderer I thought I would just mention it here. |

Gargurant I had exactly the same graphical glitch, I woudlnt worry about a bug report for it right now. I was noticing only very minor improvements in FPS also. Was unable to operate under normal full screen resolution, and had to run in window mode to avoid crashing during loading. |
