Don’t be anal, ppl should be able to communicate in what ever language they like, perhaps they don’t know English.

Would like to see a game with in chat spell check, language conversion. Google translate does it, just steal their code, they can’t tell you not to as they stole all their code in the first place.

wile i understand the desire to understand global chat, keep in mind that “global” chat will cease to exist at release.

should the other public chat channels be english only?… why?
why not chinese? or spanish? both language spoken more, and by a wider group of people then english. why not danish, as WAI is danish?

english is neither my first or even second language, and honestly, the only people i use it with are ..english people. who usually only speak english. (and often worse then many non-english native speakers in fact). At the end of the day, the game is in english, so one could assume that the language of choice will be english. but to try and force people to speak what you want or not speak at all, well, why not learn their language, instead of expecing them to learn yours?

hell, i vote we pick japanese as the global chat language! ban any other language. people can use google translate if they want to speak in MY global chat. /sarcasm

Well, TSS allready told me that he prefer english because of controlling the Rules, as the DEVS dont speak all languages to make sure noone make harrasments or somethings.

So get real, all MMO´s use the english-only thing, ask yourself why, and maybe you understand it. ;p

Seriously, what 18-wheeler run over yer brains?

In fact chinese is spoken more just in terms of numbers – because there are so friggin many chinese people living in china! and since when do more people speak chinese or spanish, since english has been the official assigned global language in the first place? Seriously, if you argue about such a topic, get your facts straight o.O or at least argue in a logical manner – which both of you didn’t.

The game is in english, if refered to the general global audience, general is the language to use, so friggin hell – the world chat should be in english…

And for those who hate english, seriously, there still is the /tell option >.>

Some people these days… *sighs*

/agree with Caduryn

It’s a global chat, the game is only available in english, so it would be better to communicate in english.
If you want to talk in another Language, like danish, japanese, chinese, russian, german, etc. you can do this on your Faction chat or group chat.

But on a global game, with global chat and developed in english the main language should be english ;)

but to try and force people to speak what you want or not speak at all, well, why not learn their language, instead of expecing them to learn yours?

Why do they play an english game, when they don’t even understand it? – you see the problem on this argument?

Becuase they like the game that’s why. I doubt that the developers are making this game only for those who understand English. It would be foolish to exclude potential customers based on their language abilities. And besides, the people who talk in a foreign language are not talking to those who don’t speak that language so it isn’t really an issue if you don’t understand it, right? On the other hand I see why it can cause problems with moderating the global chat but I agree that global chat should be eliminated altogether after release anyway.

So in what language do we post, you have to speak english in the global chat? english? See, I think we should only be able to speak Chickasaw in global, its native american. Or maybe sign language. I mean really, we got earth quakes, tsunamis, tornados, people that dont even play the game adding thier 2 cents on the fourms, 852 miillon bugs in the game, this is like the last thing to worry over.

I vote for japanase too :P.

As i said to Catnips the only real reason for using english would be for easier moderator intervention in cases of harrassement. I don’t see a problem with having the majority of the population dictate the global chat language. In the worst case scenario we could implement chat channels and have some default channels based on region/language, but this isn’t a necessity at our current population.

I don’t really see any issue with people speaking with each other in their native languages in global chat.

You can always make an IRC channel on the server to talk to people globally if you like.

But if i want general people to undestand me, i will speak in english, it’s up to me to decide on which language i shall speak, not you!

I am still having a hard time believing someone had the audacity to even make this suggestion in the first place… Hopefully it was a joke.

lol Japanese ^.^ glad i am not the only one.

Although i dont see the point it gets a littling annoying at times, but the mostly cause you have 3 groups speaking 3 different langs. If you ask me its more of an polite rule not “IMMA GONNA BAN YOU!!” rule. English IS a good middle ground though, and most countries do teach it, sadly America doesnt teach other langs so much.

So lets put it this way. Have pitty on the poor uneducated Americans and try to speak english in global. Since as far as i have seen most of them are in lang based factions anyhow, so use faction chat.

Another point though is the rules are in english, the Terms and Conditions are in english, and to my knowledge the devs and mods mostly speak english. So if a person joins and doesnt know a bit of english then how can we expect them to follow the rules, and trust me some things are lost in translation.

But i loves seeing all the different langs and i am use to a lot of the except you polish kids O.o first time seeing that lang.

P.S. was there Terms and Conditions? cause i forget. T.T

Love ya,

            E
