THIS IS NOT ANOTHER THREAD DEBATING OPEN PVP/FULL LOOT. A lot of people show concern with the full-loot/open pvp system and how it will pan out in the long run, but seeing as WAI has clearly decided to pursue this endeavor I have been thinking of ways of how to successfully deter “pks” from wiping our server clean of the o so dear non-pvp oriented gamers. It would probably require adding a maximum weight limit to the character and having equipped items add to that weight (which, correct me if i’m wrong, doesn’t currently happen). If there was a max weight limit, and worn item weight was taken into account, you could manipulate the maximum capacity and the weight of the items (within realistic ranges of course) to allow a person to, beside from their gear, carry perhaps a maximum of 1 other full set of armor, or perhaps a bag full of copper ore, as opposed to 5 backpacks full of everything the other person had. This would (i’m assuming) limit the amounts of random kills and loots that took place because a person would only be able to kill and loot 1 (or so) people before reaching their weight limit and needing to return to town. Even if you do get killed by said pk on his journey to town the chance of you being able to recover your items is increased because your corpse will just sit due to him not being able to loot it. Before everyone starts crying about corpse camping, which will happen regardless, it still gives a drastically higher chance of you regaining items. I’m tired and I feel like I’m just rambling on now, please reply if anything needs clarification or you have any comments/suggestions. Please don’t reply if you wanna argue how full-loot should be disable, or there should be a pve server, there are plenty of threads like that and I would hate it if i started another. |

they are going for full pvp because to have a fully realistic sandbox game you need to allow people to be able to be assassins and bandits. I like the idea of a limit to weight but i think that would mean that people will kill one person loot all the best gear that person has and then on the way back to town kill the person that they see and destroy any items they currently have to carry any items that they find on the corpse that are more valuable. My idea would be to limit the pvp would be to make sure that the items are classed as stolen and can only be sold to certain types of npc. |

@ Catnips I agree gold having a good amount of weight to it would be ideal, it would also force large scale trades to be done using a boat or a cart (if added) giving room for pirates/bandits to try and raid the caravan. Could get interesting… @ Davan Or make the stolen flagged items not sellable to npcs at all, making it useless unless you can find a player willing to buy some stolen gear or you can use it yourself, perhaps discouraging random killings if you cant cash in instantly. Interesting idea.

@Catnip i like your ideas but not your coin idea having weight @Davan101 i like your idea but the limit or classing them as stolen would probably be a bit iffy @Divayith i love the weight limit but i would like to say look at runescap (i believe) were u can pk any were but only steal form ppl in certain areas second i would like to say what your carrying and wearing are two different things (thinking of Elder Scrolls) were what your wearing don’t count toured your weight limit (with training). now i talk about your Pking. i would say people forum PKKer groups (Player killer killers) so if u get randomly killed by someone ur can like pray to an alter or use a parchment to indict them (think dark souls) into a list anyone can see Like a bounty board were u get payed for taking them out. |

I thought this game was planned to have open pvp everywhere except for the start island? Besides, if you are going to have a loot pvp system, it needs to be full loot. Lets be adults about this now. |

not likely, the world is huge, and people will not just sit outside of the starter area for noob gear, nothing of value they can give. The game is based around factions, and land really, so the whole world will be PVP or it will be pointless. and also starter gear is not lootable, and you dont drop it when you die.

I will reiterate to be a truely sandbox game they need to have full pvp with loot on. I tried mortal online the other day and got killed in the middle of nowhere lost all the decent gear I had been given as a noon but I didn’t care as I knew that’s what the game was. People that kill everyone will get flagged as murderers and be hunted just like in ultima online and that was a massive success |

If you truely want to limit people make it so everyone can have 5 items that are unlootable or make it so you can only steal money and 1 item. But in a truely sandbox game the player base would have to police it all. just flag muderers as such I’m sure some people will hunt them. Add bounty boards, all murderers have a bounty depending on the amount of ppl killed plus whatever bounty players want to put on them when they are killed by a player flagged as a murderer. Make all but bandit haven towns unwilling to trade with them and have guards in the bugger ones kill them. |

I can only speak for how it was not how it will be. The PK class we have had in the past could care less about loot at all, except maybe coins, thus the wieght on coins. They would drop your bags on the ground ( decay in about 5 min ) then tell you thats what they had done. Not so you could rush back and get it, but so youd hurry back so they could kill you again. I do like the idea of carts to carry lots of gold thats a topic we talked about before, to be able to attack another town youd have to carry resourses money whatever in carts/boats to the area to be able to do it. leaving the attacking force to be slow and open to ambush on the way. |
