ROFL, who said captcha’s stop spam bots? If they did there on something, they don’t and never will, There are many scripts you can write to add to your secruity to stop bots, bots can’t read simple stuff like 1 +1 = 2 . Well most bots, so simple scripts can stop them as well. So Make a simple script and try it, it works great for my site, we stop around 500-1000 a day from getting in, where before it used to look like this forum, full of them, which is annoying to delete. |

“and add a second list for newly created topics, which can changed based on which forum category you’re browisng” Honestly one reason why the post tracker worked great was because one could search all the new posts from the whole forum. While having the option to check just one section at a time can be useful, a generalized tracker for everything would be the best thing to complement that. Hope there is an easy way for both specific and general posts to be seen. |

Thanks for the update Bill and for your understanding, as well as for the info on the Groups link. As for that link though, I think it may be easy to miss, and that a lot may be easy to miss, because of the dual drop down menu bars. Perhaps if there was just one drop down menu bar or a different drop down menu bar for people who are logged in or for community pages such as the forums. Just spit balling there, but I do think that is something that ideally should be addressed, though is probably a lot lower priority than some things. |

recon: recaptcha has been far more successful in my experience than “simple” versions like the math example you gave – the simple fact is that we had no protection whatsoever on our account creation until now. As you can probably work out, the account creation and game account management has been built independently, we had protection on our Drupal installation, but accounts were never directly created via the CMS.

Use BBCode (I’ll be adding some info below the textarea elements) E.g. Use closing tags E.g [/tag]. I’ll be adding buttons for this stuff ASAP. |

Ooo Thank ya ^,^ (Huggle) [quote=Bill] Oh and P.S. By looking at your last post made me wonder does the Edit Log Cap at a point or would it make a never ending list, if you updated a post reguraly (ex. Faction Post.) Although I do like being able to see the entire list, it would let the reader now how much work is put into the post. ^.^ Keep up the good work, glad to see you guys are actually doing something ^,^ |

You need to close the quote tag with [/quote] too :) I’m changing the edit log now. |

Bill, it appears that the forum link in the community menu is broken. I get a ‘not found’ message in my browser tab and get directed to the news page. To access the forums I have to click on a topic in the latest posts window. |

I have to say, the new forums are terrible. They are so hard to read, the lay out is just messy. There is a reason most forums look the same, and here is the proof. Just my 2 cents. Not an easy forum to browse. |

As I’ve said in a couple of other posts, I will be working on improvements to the forum layout in the future. Some members requested the new topic listing, so it was provided. I am to re-work the main forum index so that it is more akin to a standard forum listing. |

New forum index looks much better. Something for the feedback box, if i may. Clicking on one of the 5 main forum sections (Support, News and A., Gampleya, etc.) brings up the page with just the subsections. Then you have to click on a link again to see the threads. Might be good to just drop the links from the sections. They’re harder to spot than their subsections anyway (because of smaller/thinner font). |
