Hello.

First I wanna say big thanks for developers. Its very interesting game. I played UO, DF, MO and other mmos and could say that ideas which used here is unique in all this mmos – for example Appearance.. Much other small but very important things. I also liked game design and athmosphere. I’m waiting for your release and with you to solve all problems faster :)

But I’ll start with my suggestion:

Today I created crafter with such skills:
1) Armoursmith
2) Weaponsmith
3) Toolssmith
4) Tailoring
5) Fletching

Lumberjacking and mining I wanted to raise from 0. I like to do such characters from old times (started play UO at 99′).

I bought axe to cut wood for 57 gold. I have now 43 gold.

I cutted some wood and raised my lumberjacking.. Now I wanted to buy pickaxe – but its too expensive. I cant afford it with 43 gold.

NPC dont wanna buy wood. Ok…

I tryed to make all items from this wood which I could and tryed to sell it to NPC. But NPC dont wanna buy anything which I can produce (shafts, paper, charcoal)..

Its not really good because in _sandbox_ mmorpg its nice to have opportunity to do what you want without such small restrictions. Of course I can ask for money other players or sell them my wood.. But I wanted to start alone without any interactions with others, just like Im in single-player mode. Its possible in UO for example (you can sell logs there). But in Dawntide Im stack!

I cant earn any money with my axe and wood. I cant afford pickaxe to start mining -> crafting.

Resume:
Please add function to NPC – so they would be able to buy shafts or paper for 1 coin. Then this problem would be solved.

Thanks.

you have tailoring skill, head west of town to the farms and you will find flax plants. Pick these and use the spindle in town to make linen. You can either sell the linen or craft items with it. This will get you a few coins and help train tailoring.

Thank you I already did it by an advice in global chat.

But this didnt sove problem. If new char have all skills which I had, but didnt have tailoring – he would be trapped :(

One of the most basic carpentry recipes is lumber, this can be used to craft raw timber into lumber then sold to the NPC vendor. You should be able to attempt this recipe at 0 skill and if you wish gain no skill while doing so, although you will get substancial fails. I have yet to find a skill selection choice where you are completey unable to gain more money, and I have tried many. The entry level recipes usually allow you to gather and sell something, and even if you choose ALL crafting skills you should still have enough gold to buy tools to gather at least one material type that you can sell to the vendor either in its raw state or crafted with a basic recipe. The current vendor system is also not going to be the end solution at launch so more possibilities for player trade will open up.
