Hello fellow roleplayers! This is my very first post on the forums, and more than likely.. not my last. I’m glad to see that this game will be supporting a roleplay community. I’ve been browsing for a decent place to settle into since I left World of Warcraft. From what I can gather from a brief scan on The Tavern thread… it would seem that the roleplay community has only just begun to crawl. I’d say it’s about time we taught our baby to walk! In this thread I propose we discuss the following: 1. – Where will the “Roleplay hub” be established? I.e. Where roleplay will be most common, such as a dedicated roleplaying city 2. – What kind of political state the world shall be in? I.e. There is one ruling faction like “The Valari Empire” and the other factions serve as noble houses? or whatever other scheme we may incorporate. 3. – Lore. Now, I know this is a very uneasy subject due to the fact that the developers have not posted any lore on the world or it’s inhabitants. However, this may be a nice breeding grounds for exactly that! Hopefully with the staff’s permission of course! Any other points, feel free to add them yourselves! Once I finally finish the download I’ll exchange my character information with the rest of the roleplaying community! (Currently in download stages) EDIT: After thoroughly reading the current news – I’ll “Hope to see you all in-game! When the new public version is released!” Excuse my elitism :’D

1. I think the most important thing is to get organised as a community. From there we can later decide which city we should have as a roleplaying one. Or if we should just build one ourselves. I’ve already asked to get a more detailed roleplaying commmunity forum where we can discuss certain topics rather than have it in this supposed RP story thread forum. 2. I’m not sure about the new world. But I reckon it will be alike the old world. Where the Vynn race is the dominating “norse” looking type of people. A lot of inspiration for the Vynn can be seen from the old viking/norse culture. There’s also the Cevanti that are meditterian looking people, where a lot of inspiration came from the Roman Empire. In the future its planned to have Santyrian lizardmen and Andrunian halfmen. The lore and happening of the world is said to be set in forms of GM events. I’d say the best way to form a Roleplaying community is to not take on such a huge role in the world. I just find that there would be problems if a guild is created named “The Vynn Kingdom” and having someone roleplaying the King of Vynnland, just to be steamrolled by a GM saying they’re deciding what happens to Vynn. Only way I see this working is if the GM agrees to have a roleplaying guild do their work. And the GMs would just be handing out orders/storylines for the roleplaying King of Vynn. But I see a lot of complaints coming from this, including favourism amongst players. Which will only destroy the community. The best way according to me is to leave it in the GMs hands. And perhaps take on a smaller role that has the possibility to expand into something larger. 3. As for world lore, that should be strictly governed by the GMs. However the GMs can never tell you what lore you should have in your guild. How you came to exist, what your religion is etc etc. But my advice would be to somehow have it connected to the world lore. Even if the ties may be thin, its good to have that connection and feel part of the overall game. If you’re really sincere regarding wanting roleplay here on Dawntide. I’d like you to contact me, I’m continuously looking for key persons to get this project launched. ICQ: 345485202

/shudders at the number of GM mentions. I am keen to support the RP community in any way I can, but I can only interact within guidelines set down by the dev team. At this stage I am not sure what the boundaries will be so cannot really say. Regarding game world law I think you will find more information will be released nearer launch. |

@Grimnir I’m quite taken in by the game, and it seems like a friendly community, and such as Pathy has stated before it certainly has the tools to help support a roleplay community. I’d be happy to contribute to the project! @Pathy At this stage that’s pretty much natural.. :) I wouldn’t worry too much about it. But I thank you for your interest ;D |
