Just going to provide a little data that I have from some combat testing relating to armour. This is not obviously foolproof data but does demonstrate the differences between different armour types. Each test was performed using standard armour qual 1.0 and with skills locked at 20.0 to stop any skill sink affecting results.

All combat took place in PVE testing with skills locked against a standard bandit type mob to offer “comparison” results.

Each total is recorded after 15 incoming hits after a single fight, limiting factor was hide armour resultedin death of player after 17th incoming hit, ringmail armour player was alive with 8 health after 20 hits, splint armour player was alive with 23 health after 27 hits. Some of the reason the splint armour fight went on longer was due to greater number of outgoing glancing blows and misses.

Splint Armour – 70 dmg Average – 4.66dmg per hit Armour value complete set – 35.9
Ringmail Armour – 115 dmg Average – 7.66 per hit Armour value complete set – 24.0
Hide Armour – 170dmg Average – 11.33 per hit Armour value complete set – 13.2

While this data is far from extensive or complete it does demonstrate that armour mechanics are “fairly” balanced.

I will hopefully get the chance to do some comparisons of how armour of different types scales with improvements in material quality.

Also related to combat and a worthwhile piece of information and data for players demonstrating the difference quality makes.

Data shows differences making a longsword using different metal types.

Copper Longsword: Qual 1.0 Dmg 6.0 Weight 2.5 Cond. 0.75
Bronze Longsword: Qual 1.2 Dmg 7.2 Weight 3.75 Cond. 1.00
Iron Longsword : Qual 1.4 Dmg 8.4 Weight 6.25 Cond. 0.75
GS Longsword : Qual 1.8 Dmg 10.8 Weight 6.25 Cond. 1.25

Gleamsteel is the highest quality metal in game up to this time, and I have not included data for gold, silver or standard steel items. Worth noting that the Conductivity value is a modifier for enchantments placed on an item, so by this measure the same enchantment would have a greater affect on a gleamsteel item compared to when used on an iron item.

All data is subject to change, as always.

Bear in mind that this all could very well change with the new combat system they are developing at this very moment.

Are they adding in the new combat system with this down time as well?

Necuel I am not sure what will happen due to the delays.

Was the armor skill bug fixed? Where you only had to wear 1 peice of armor in order for the armor skills to be effective?
