I think players that played in the Beta should have some advantage over new players after release. Players that play the beta bothers to deal with the bugs and play to stress test the game and I think it’s lame to have them all wiped off. |

You have the advantage of understanding the game mechanics and how best to build characters. You have a prior knowledge of the game world and the best areas to settle. To do anything other than completely wipe the database would hurt initial take up of new players, and therefor damaging the game long term. Having a skill cap negates any long term advantage of length of play, but in terms of conquest and the race to secure the best land is going to be interesting to some of the larger factions. You could argue that with a skill cap there will be no long term advantage for letting beta testers keep characters, but they would be able to create towns from day one, where a new player would take several days of training to attempt to do the same. This is the primary reason why this sort of advantage should not occur. Also worth thinking about some testers that registered a year ago or more and have gone AWOL, do they deserve any advantage. Or the testers who play daily for the last 18months doing hundreds of hours of testing, do they deserve more than the player that has never submitted a bug report but has been in game plenty. From my perspective all arguments point towards wiping everything clean, the map and the character database. |

wipe +1 although early access kind of thing wouldnt be such a bad idea, much like xsyon does but with some actual progress tied to it and all major bugs and game mechanics in place so the early access crowd dont get an advantage that later is patched out for new players. looking forward to seeing the patch and how it works! |

Wipe is needed imo. I’ve played games that launch without a wipe and it does cost players. Many players that don’t like to test games will take advantage of btas to try the game out. They then will wait until the game launches and start at launch when the game is fresh. Not wiping characters leaves them bitter and some will leave. This is particularly try in this game as GMPathy points out, claiming land requires skills to gather materials and build, w/out a full wipe you are handing all the best locations to the testers leaving all non testers feeling burned, and a player that feels burned when they are in the trial stage won’t be reaching for thier credit card very fast if at all. The only thing I could see not being wiped would be names. A tester that has used a name for years should not have to worry about some prick taking their name. |

You’re giving attention to someone who actually says things like ‘lame’. And no, no legitimized cheating for the ‘in-crowd’ of beta-testers. |

Lol werewolfe. I agree with him though, and most of the posters here. Wipe is more than needed. I beta’d for darkfall and that game was a super-grind back then. I still didn’t want that advantage coming into the new game because it wasn’t fair. No good reason not to wipe here. |

Yep, wipe is needed. All should start from 0. Fair and square. |

When testing people found some dupe methods I suppose.. Some of them was used before reported, so wipe is essential for game release :) In Ultima Online at 1999-2000′s some players has found and used a one o the dupe mothods (using packed horse and latern ^^). Some of this players were banned, some gold was destroyed but some gold checks that has left on their alts was enoght to destroy of game’s economy for a few years. Thats why better to wipe and start everything again ) |

I too agree that the wipe is needed , but do not believe it would destroy or turn players away if say the beta testers were given a small head start as a reward. Maybe something like 3 days.. just my opinion after all it is human nature… Either way I am looking forward to the game going live so my hard spent hours begin to mean something in the virtual world… |

Definitely start from scratch, the beta tester’s knowledge gives them a large advantage out of the gate. Giving out a small cosmetic reward (maybe a hat or something) to players who have reported a bug or exploit throughout the beta seems like a good idea. |

Give Beta testers a “Sir” in front of their character names :D (optional) THIS IS OPINION/DESIRE/OPTION and in no way fact, rumour or speculation. I make suggestions not decisions :D

I agree that a wipe is needed, but there should also be something for people who’ve been testing for 1+ months. I like the idea of the “Sir”, but they’d have to do it for all characters on the account. |

NO character wipe. This game takes the most hard work of any game I have ever played just to accomplish simple tasks. A lot of trial and error during exploration happens just to be able to figure out how things work and one becomes more efficient. Really, at that this point there really is no need for a wipe. Just get rid of the glitches and errors and lets keep on trucking. |
