In-Depth Mechanics

Combat Theory

  • Anticipation Abilities (Stances) alter FSB on yourself and the target.
  • Offensive Abilities exploit a given constellation of own and target FSB to achieve an effect on the target
  • Defensive Abilities exploit a given constellation of own and target FSB to achieve an effect on the target

Each weapon group will have a primary, secondary and weak attribute out of Force, Speed and Balance. There are six weapon groups currently planned.

  • Short Blades
  • Long Blades
  • Axes
  • Maces
  • Polearms
  • Marksmanship

Additionally, there are the two secondary weapon groups: Throwing and Unarmed.

  • Throwing
  • Unarmed

Fights would play out as both players initially attempting to reach a useful constellation of FSB, with the first player to reach it having the initiative.

Then it would be a matter of fighting for the initiative so you can be the one building towards a beneficial constellation of FSB, rather than trying to prevent the opponent from reaching one.

Reacquiring the initiative (tactical initiative, not a game mechanic) would be done by correctly predicting what constellation your opponent is trying to reach and exploiting that with Defense and Anticipation.
