Sorcery

Players will select targeting mode for their spell by using a Sorcery stance, which preempts using a Combat stance. Spells cast while in a Combat stance will use their default targeting mode, if available. Targeting modes will shape the spell according to the caster’s tactical need. As a rule of thumb, the more spread out the effect is, the more diluted its power and the higher its mana cost.

Target Modes

  • Self: 120% effect, 100% Mana
  • Group: 80% effect, 120% Mana
  • Target: 100% effect, 100% Mana
  • Area of Effect, Point Blank: 66% effect, 133% Mana

Spells cast while using Self targeting will target the caster regardless of current target. The spell’s power is boosted by 20% while its Mana cost remains the same.

Spells cast while using Group targeting will target everyone within the current group who is within the spell’s range, if any. If no range is specified, it will affect any group members in the caster’s current cell. The spell’s power is reduced by 20%, while its Mana cost is increased by 20%.

Spells cast while using Target targeting will affect the caster’s current target. The effect and Mana cost is normal. Target is the default target mode.

Spells cast while using the Point Blank AOE targeting mode will affect everyone within a range of the caster, depending on the spell. A targeting circle will appear around the caster to indicate the range. The spell’s power is reduced by 33% while its Mana cost is increased by 33%.
